You must be wondering “What is Taekwondo all about?” Well, Taekwondo is a martial art and a form of physical exercise which originated in Korea. 'Tae' means to kick or smash with the feet, 'Kwon' implies punching or destroying with the hands or fists and 'Do' means the art or the way. Literally, it means the art of foot and hand fighting. Other than that, Taekwondo places great emphasis on the spiritual aspect as well. Taekwondo cultivates desirable values such as tolerance, self-discipline, respect and the learning of effective self-defence techniques in your child. In addition, Taekwondo helps participants in channelling their aggressive tendencies through a constructive activity and a spirit of fair play. Taekwondo also provides a practical experience for participants to stand and face a series of difficult problems that call for split second decisions. This enables them to build and maintain a strong body through vigorous muscle exercise and develop confidence, courage, self-reliance, quick thinking and respect for one's fellow man. We hope that by joining Taekwondo, your child will be able to develop healthy bodies and virtues of modesty, benevolence, valor, wisdom, justice, courtesy and perseverance. Taekwondo will allow your child to realize the full potential of man, both spiritually and physically. Taekwondo, thus, A WAY OF LIFE.
